In 1881 & 1891 Alice was living at Peters Farm, Rusper, Sussex with her parents & brothers & sisters.
By 1901 Alice, her 2 sisters Elizabeth & Emily, & her brother John were living at Soles Farm, Nuthurst, Horsham, Sussex with their widowed mother.
On December 18th, 1907 Alice married Samson Dale at West Grinstead, Sussex. Samson was born December 7th, 1878 at Washington, Sussex, the son of Harriet & Jacob Dale, an agricultural labourer. At the time of the 1901 census Samson was working as a game keeper.
In 1911 Alice & Samson were living at Rookland Cottages, West Grinstead, Horsham & Samson was employed as a gamekeeper. They had 2 daughters – Emily Louisa (2) & Kitty (8 months).
The 1939 register shows Alice & Samson at Hook House farm, Haywards Heath where Samson was a farmer.
Samson of Buren, Brighton Road, Shermanbury, Sussex died July 28th,1954, aged 75. Probate was granted on November 27th 1954 at Lewes to William Parker, farmer. His effects were £2487.17s.4d.
Alice of Buren, Brighton Road, Shermanbury, Sussex died November 8th,1964, aged 83. Probate was granted on April 28th, 1965 to Charles John Shepherd, gardener. Her effects were £6149.
